MANILA

Rolling stores will start selling
affordable goods -- from rice to
cooking oil and meat --  to
mark Labor Day.

The project is being
spearheaded by the
Department of Labor and the
National Food Authority, Labor
Secretary Arturo Brion said.
Cheap goods from rolling stores to Mark May Day.
Project to run for the whole month of May with scheduled stops
President  Arroyo will lead the May Day celebration  at the Rizal Park.

Brion said the NFA initiative reaffirms the government’s commitment to
providing greater access to affordable basic commodities, and essential
services, to support Filipino workers and their families.

Brion said the rolling store program will run for the whole month of May, with
scheduled stops in government offices and other areas to reach out to more
workers.

The government is also pushing for the establishment of an additional 30
Barangay Food Terminals nationwide to increase access to cheap basic
commodities.
