Victims suffer minor injuries after atrium glass shatters

MANILA

Everything is back to normal at the SM City North Edsa’s Annex 3 after two
people were injured when a portion of the tempered glass ceiling of the atrium
shattered and fell on the mall's activity center on Friday afternoon.

Millie F. Dizon, vice president for SM Investment Corporation marketing
communications group, said  the victims, who were immediately brought to a
clinic inside the mall, only suffered minor injuries.

"A small portion of the skylight
    broke. Since this is tempered
glass, it shattered in pieces just
like a windshield, so the impact
    lessened. Two had minor injuries
and we attended to their medical
    needs," Dizon said.

    Dizon said said the management
of the SM City shopping mall
    immediately repaired the portion of
the ceiling, "which is actually a small area."

The activity center had been cleared of debris by Friday night.

The Block, which is also called SM City Annex 3, is the establishment's newest
wing. It is connected with the SM City North Edsa mall center by a footbridge.
